Vistor in my Garden – Black Swallowtail Caterpillar

DSCN8218

My back has been out for 2 days now and it was windy and rainy this morning so when I got a chance to walk in my garden it was a welcome change.

DSCN8219To my surprise I found this little visitor munching away on my celery that I planted from store-bought celery.  After snapping his/her photo I moved it to my parsley plant which I would rather it eat.

Any visitors in your yards?

If you find a black swallowtail you can raise it yourself.  We have done this many times at my home. We used large Mason jars and screen or pantyhose to cover the top.

  1. Haha glad you moved him somewhere else, he/she looks like a cute little guy. Great shots. Hope your back gets better!
