I probably planted way to late as the weather seems to be getting very hot in Florida. It is fun none the less to see what will grow. Almost everything has been planted with seed except the recently purchased parsley and mint plants. What few strawberries have survived from last years “yuck” are third generation plants and my sweet potatoes are 2nd generation babies.
The plotted area I am showing is approx 36′ x 45′. I decided to try hale bale gardening after watching many videos on the subject and several videos on permaculture. My garden has gone through many changes and little by little it has changed from just plain old trying to grow things, to sustainably and hopefully full blown permaculture.
This is how Science Daily describes sustainable: Sustainable agriculture refers to the ability of a farm to produce perpetually.
The best video I have seen on urban permaculture is done by Jeff Lawton. Here is the link to the video. You may have to give a username and email to get to the video.
I also and giving worm bins a 3rd try, lol, which are near the bananas. The second time I tried them they did great but then it got cold and I stopped feeding them. They left….
This is the other 1/3 of my back yard. These are several pineapple plants, 3 with pineapples, lemon grass, rose, 2 moringa trees that froze back this past winter, bird of paradise, lavender and a night blooming jasmine.
