Garden Update 3-25-14 Florida Hay Bale Garden

I found out about hay/straw bale gardening on a facebook post.  After reading a lot of different posts and watching some videos I decided to try hay instead of straw and the only issue I have had so far are mushrooms growing.

I also decided this year to plant my carrots in self watering grow buckets because the ground tends to compact way to much to grow them directly in the ground here on the east coast of Florida.

  1. I planted carrots in a container and they worked out just fine! I’ve never tried using hay, though, and it seems that you like it . Any tips?
