Banana’s are Growing – There is Hope

I wish my mother could be here for this but I am sure she is enjoying heaven more than I can imagine.  She bought this plant when my son was like 5 years old, he is now almost 22.  It has been moved several times, mowed over several times and frozen several times.

After all that it is producing banana’s!!  Today while I was out watering I noticed them.  I don’t know how long they have been there but probably not too long.

I transplanted it just about 3 years ago into its new home and told it if it didn’t start growing and producing it was gone. Of course I have been taking better care of it and I have put compost on it several times and recently coffee water.  I have learned they are heavy feeders and need lots of water.

Can you tell I am just a little excited.  I though it was great when my friend’s plant produced last year but nothing like this.  Maybe it’s because I have had it for so long.

I will be posting more pictures as they mature.  I LOVE the huge flower.
