Eureka! I think I have finally found a head covering that will work for me. I have tried several different things, wide headbands, tichels, hats, and scarves. Nothing seemed quite right for my tiny head.
It may not seem like a big deal to you but it has been to me. All that fabric gave me a headache and slipped off and the headbands I could only wear for so long. I have one hat that doesn’t look like I am wearing a helmet as most are too big. I was getting to the point where I was beginning to argue with Yehoveh about it and didn’t have the right heart. And if I didn’t have a right heart of obedience then why was I doing it?
The other day I pulled out a pattern I had purchased for my mother when she had cancer, McCalls 4116. I had never sewn any of coverings as she didn’t like them. I decided to try view E. I only had 1/2 yard of fabric so I made it without the attached braided piece to see how it looked and fit.
I made the size small and had to take it in about 1/2″. I figured I would have to cut the top circle down but because it is made of knit fabric that wasn’t an issue. The end result was wonderful.
I watched this video yesterday and decided to try tying a contrasting scarf I had over it and really liked the look. I will be making more of these in different colors and using different things to brighten them up. YEAH!!
For those who are wondering “why” even wear a covering I will explain why I do. I knew in my heart that Yehovah had been convicting me for a long time and when I finally sat down and began to dig into I Corinthians 11 I knew “I” was to be obedient. Some may say that I am being legalistic. I would say if you feel the freedom not to wear one then don’t I have the same freedom to wear one without being criticized?
