Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bites with Secret Ingredient

Since I first saw this recipe I wanted to give it a try.

When I tasted these bites I wasn’t sure  if my husband was going to like them because they are not super sweet but, he did and he didn’t want me to tell him what the secret ingredient was.   I asked two friends if they could tell what the secret ingredient was and they couldn’t.

Secret ingredient, drum roll please……chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans.  That’s right.  Now don’t turn your nose up.  If no one could tell what it was why not give it a try.

These wonderful peanut butter chocolate chip bites have no grains and no eggs in them.  Just a bit of honey, natural peanut butter, a little vanilla, baking powder, chocolate chips and chick peas.

The recipe can be found at Texanerin Baking.  The website says it makes 14 bites but I got 22 out of my batch and they are just the right size.  Mine are darker than the picture on the recipe website and that might be because I used a dark honey. I also used Ghiradelli chocolate chips that were too big.  Next time I will chop them up a bit or find the smaller size.

PLEASE give this recipe a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
