I have been creating a wardrobe of skirts and so far I have made 2 basic styles.
I wanted more options and today tried something new. The skirt I started out with was a little longer than some of the others I have repurposed so I didn’t have to add as much fabric.
I did not take the hem out of this skirt as it was a lighter weight jean fabric. I gathered my fabric and sewed it right on top of the existing skirt. This was a quick and easy way to add length to my skirt.
This is the original skirt I began with.
I cut a piece of jean fabric and zigzagged the edges, sewed a seam, and then hemmed the top and bottom. I then gathered one edge and pinned it directly on top of the skirt, sewed it on and took out my gathering.
