It has rained for a few days and it has been so humid out that I haven’t been out in the garden to take pictures. This evening it was overcast and not so humid so tried to see if I could find some of the Black Swallowtail eggs that may have hatched. The eggs were laid 11 days ago. To my great surprise I found 5 caterpillars munching away on my fennel.
I also found 3 spiders hanging around. The spider with the bright red/orange I believe is a Orchard Orbweaver (Leucauge venusta). The other two spiders I believe to be brown widows. I guess I will have to get rid of the brown widows!!! We have black widows but I have not seen brown widows around before.
Every day I’m impressed by the colors of those Venusta Orchard Spiders. Nice pictures!
Thanks, I love God’s creation. I am not a huge spider fan but will they are beautiful.
