Homemade Soft Scrub

I really disliked using commercial cleaning products, especially for my bath tub.  After I cleaned the tub I would rinse and rinse it.  I love taking baths and the thought of soaking with all those chemicals was not a pleasant thought.  When I found this recipe I was on board.

Basic Soft Scrub Formula

  • 3/4 cup baking soda
  • Enough liquid soap (approx 1/4 cup)to make a frosting-like
    consistency
  • 5 drops antibacterial essential oil such as lavender,
tea tree oil, or rosemary (optional)

I used tea tree oil and lemon essential oil for the antibacterial properties. You can purchase this at Mountain Rose Herbs.  For the liquid soap I used Dr Bonner’s Pure Liquid Soap with Eucalyptus.  Not only does it clean everything from my sink to my tub but it smells wonderful.

I keep a container in the bathroom and kitchen. When I am ready to clean I  wet my sponge, put some of the soft scrub on it and clean away. Here is a picture of my kitchen sink before and after cleaning.

I had a pomegranate sugar scrub made with ground seeds and fruit. I want to try to make one on my own. My brother used it on his hands one time he was here and was amazed. He usually uses chemicals to clean off the gunk on his hands.
