I had a couple of pairs of jeans that I purchased on-line a few years ago. They didn’t really fit and I have been wanting some skirts so I decided to make them over.
The first thing I did was cut off the legs.
I then found my handy-dandy seam ripper. I took the inside leg seam out and then the front seam almost to the zipper. Next I took the back seam out about 5 1/2″.
Then I lapped the curved seam over so the seam is now flat on the front and back and pin.
I sewed the seams down with the closest thread I had to the jean thread.
Next I cut the bottom so that it was straight. I zigzaged the unfinished edge, you can serge if you want. I didn’t feel like dragging out my serger and changing the thread.
I completed the fabric part of the skirt and attached it to the skirt. You can see how to do this on my repurposed skirt page.
