Crockpot Freezer Meals

4/27/2012

I wanted to try this the minute I saw it posted on Pinterest.  Fixing multiple meals for the freezer without a lot of fuss and mess, that was me!! I did some research on the internet and came up with 7 crockpot meals for the freezer that fit our tastes.

Last night I made out my grocery list.  This morning I checked my pantry, fridge and freezer to see what I needed and I was off to the grocery store.

When I got home I pulled out everything I needed and began to go down the list of recipes one by one filling bags.

Half way through I made my meatballs and popped them in them in the oven.  When they were finished I put them in the freezer.

The mess that needed to be cleaned up was very small for 10 meals.  These meals are actually large for just my husband and myself.  I am sure there will be left overs from each meal so that is over 20 meals.  My son will be home soon from college so maybe there won’t be quite that many meals.  The bags were all filled in 3 hours.

All of these meals are for two 1 gallon size freezer bags.  For the meals that I was not sure if we would like I cut the recipe in 1/2.

Here are the meals I prepared:

I even had extra meatballs for  future spaghetti.

I did some research on blanching the vegetables and decided not to blanch mine.  Of the 3 websites I got my recipes none of them blanched their vegies and they did not have problems.  I guess if I was going to keep these for 6 months I would blanch but I plan on eating them within a month.

  1. I think this would work well for people who can’t get out much. Also, what a quick and easy way to provide a meal for someone in need.
